Garden Party at Collon House

Support the restoration of Collon's splendid parish church at the Collon House garden party.

The historic Church of Ireland chuch in Collon village is closely associated with the Foster family and particulary with John Foster, last speaker of the Irish Commons. Designed in the Perpendicular Gothic style by the clergyman architect, the Revd. Daniel Beaufort, and completed in 1815, the building was closely modelled on the chapel of Kings College, Cambridge although built to a far smaller scale.  Today the roof unrgently needs repair to protect the very fine decorative plasterwork ceiling illustrated above.

On Saturday the 16th of May The Friends of Collon Church are holding a fund-raising party in the splendid gardens of Collon House, formerly John Foster's home, just opposite the church.

The event will include the usual teas, buns and cakes. There will be a cake stall and a garden plants stall, and plenty of activities for children while the Lourdes Brass band from nearby Drogheda will play throughout the afternoon.
