Rare & Special Plant Fair
The Rare & Special Plant Fair visits Glin Castle, seat of the Knights of Glin and the home of garden designer Catherine FitzGerald.
The Rare & Special Plan Fair is an annual event, always held at a different venue on the second Sunday in May. The fair was established to provide the gardening public with an opportunity to purchase rare, unusual and special plants at reasonable prices, and to ensure that Irish nurseries and plant breeders had an opportunity to present their plants for sale. The fair has the important secondary aim of ensuring that the gardening public has an opportunity of visiting a private garden that they might not otherwise see.
Over the years the event has grown in reputation and stature, and it has been held in some of Ireland’s most important and beautiful private gardens. More recently, it has visited notable gardens in State and public ownership. This year the fair will be held at Glin Castle, seat of the Knights of Glin and the home of garden designer Catherine Fitz Gerald.
If you have to travel a long distance to attend the fair there is the option of staying for the weekend at Glin Castle. For details of accommodation and availability call Claire Whyte on 353 87 329 4575
